Kabadadaari may be a neo-noir thriller directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy, which is that the Tamil remake of the Kannada film Kavaludaari that was written and directed by Hemanth M Rao. Pradeep Krishnamoorthy’s Kabadadaari is predicated on Hemanth Rao’s 2019 Kannada feature Kavaludaari, and in terms of plot and structure, it stays fairly on the brink of the source material. Sibi Sathyaraj plays a policeman named Sakthi. He wants to try to to more. He wants to be a detective. And he gets his chance (unofficially) when three skeletons are discovered within the earth being dug up for Metro Rail construction work. 

From my review of Kavaludaari: “A small boy, presumably the kid of 1 of the workers, is twiddling with a ball. The ball bounces into a trench, and therefore the boy follows, stepping carefully on the loose sand on the walls of the ditch . The crux of this moment is that the discovery of the skeletons – it’s what sets the plot in motion, and you’d think this is often where the large drama will play out.” The boy will see the bones. The major positive aspect of the movie is its engaging screenplay which is barren of unnecessary deviations. The way Hemanth's story from the Kannada version has been improvised to suit the Tamil nativity deserves mention. The effortless performances from Nasser and Jayaprakash act as catalysts to the screenplay which keeps the viewers hooked till the top . Sibiraj, because the earnest cop, fits the bill, because of the convincing portrayal of various emotions the character goes through. Suman, Nandita and Sampath are okay in their respective roles.

The rest of the cast, including G Dhananjayan, J Satish Kumar, Abhishek Shankar, Ratchasan Yazar, Sai Dheena and Suman Ranganathan, have small but defined roles, which they perform to a T . Sampath Maitreya, who played a crucial role in Kavaludaari, has reprised it within the Tamil version too! His expressions convey quite lot but the lip-sync for the dubbing gives it away during a few places.
